Giving Children a Place to Learn About Jesus

Across Nepal, there are approximately 50 Seventh-day Adventist churches connected with the Nepal Section. Yet many of these churches have no dedicated space for children’s Sabbath School.

Most local churches are simple, single-room buildings where the entire congregation worships together. Without another classroom, children often remain with the adults throughout the service, move in and out of the meeting, or spend much of Sabbath morning outside playing with other village children.

As a result, many children are missing an important opportunity to receive Bible instruction designed especially for them during some of the most formative years of their lives.

Creating Space for Children

Reach Nepal is helping local churches create dedicated Sabbath School classrooms where children can learn the Bible, sing, pray, participate in activities, and grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Because most existing churches have no additional indoor space, these classrooms are usually constructed beside the church wherever land is available. In some locations, where the church structure allows, a classroom can be added above the existing building.

A typical classroom accommodates approximately 20–30 children and costs an average of $3,000 to build.

Actual construction costs vary depending on the location, transportation of materials, local labor costs, and how much the church members are able to contribute themselves.

A Small Building With a Lasting Impact

A Sabbath School classroom is more than an additional room. It gives a local congregation the ability to intentionally teach its children every week.

For approximately $3,000, a church can gain a dedicated space that may serve hundreds of children over many years—giving them a place to study Scripture, learn to pray, memorize Bible promises, and discover what it means to follow Jesus.
